mukhari sharak

appearance: strange left eye: bright blue, but pupil appears to be white. missing his right eye entirely.
background:
most of mukhari’s long life has been spent tagging along with satero and trying to keep satero from blowing up. it hasn’t been a pleasant ride. in fact it has been such an unpleasant ride that eventually mukhari stands up for himself and gets as far away from satero as possible. he washes his hands of that problem!
when he’s not trying to keep satero from eating babies, mukhari likes to pursue his many musical interests, start one-hit-wonder bands, and then drink and whore and gamble all his money away. if you are looking for mukhari sharak there is a good chance that he is somewhere out on the streets, homeless and busking and only a little bit drunk.
personality:
mukhari is and has always been cheerful, good-natured, and non-confrontational. everyone likes mukhari sharak. or at least, everyone thinks that he’s harmless.
in general, mukhari is silly and talkative and friendly and enthusiastic and excitable. it is safe to treat him as an irresponsible 20 year old college boy. he likes drinking and parties and girls and doing stupid, dangerous things and pretending that his opinions are important, though the key word here is pretending.
he really likes music and will play any guitar he can get his hands on and, if he is drunk enough, will try to play all the guitars he can get his hands on all at once. he’s been in lots of bands over the years under lots of different names and personas.
mukhari is an enormous extrovert. he loves people and he loves friends and he loves socializing. he also enjoys being famous and adored and he lives for the limelight. unfortunately, being famous and being immortal are two things that should not publicly coincide and so mukhari has gotten very good at faking his own death and vanishing from the scene.
but somewhere deep down inside mukhari is completely cold and heartless and, in truth, most of his relationships mean very little to him. he engages in a lot of one-night stands, leaves a lot of lovers and friends after he grows tired of them, and has very few qualms about using people. mukhari sharak is also the biggest coward there ever was. in the face of danger the only thing he can be counted on to do is fleeing immediately.
in short, mukhari only ever does what is convenient for him, unless someone like satero terrifies him into doing otherwise. so underneath all of mukhari’s good cheer he’s really not a very good person at all. there are a lot of flaws here! bad flaws.
he gets better, though. he gets loads better.
relationships:
kherat sharak was mukhari’s twin brother. due to some unfortunate circumstances it turned out that mukhari and kherat were sharing one existence between the two of them, so mukhari was active during the day while kherat was active during the night, and as a result, the two of them did not interact much with one another. they were not very close. they were both a little bit sad about this but there was not much either could do about it.
korost sharak / ghost was mukhari’s older brother, who was a little bit responsible for the existence-sharing situation between mukhari and sharak. the part that he played in that weighed on ghost’s mind so heavily that he decided it’d be best for everyone if he disappeared, and so he did. but circumstances brought ghost back many years later where he met mukhari and kherat again, both grown up. neither of them recognized him and ghost did not reveal the nature of his true relationship with them. by the time mukhari found out about ghost’s identity, ghost had already vanished again, and this time he did not come back.
satero e ankhar is mukhari’s best friend by name, though their relationship really is not that healthy at all. satero takes mukhari for granted, and summarily mistreats him, and mukhari allows satero to dictate all his actions and decisions because he is too terrified of the man to do otherwise. unfortunately mukhari is also about the only person who can understand and get through to satero when satero is at his worst, and so a lot of people come to him when satero starts causing trouble.
blackened was one of mukhari’s oldest friends, as they all but grew up together. blackened was also a doctor but unlike mukhari, he was actually good at his job. excepting the part where blackened was also a horrible person and a serial killer. mukhari chooses to pretend that he never found out about that, though. they drift apart later as conflicts develop and are never quite close friends again afterwards.
stone is currently mukhari’s only real friend, though they only speak about once every two months on account of stone’s extremely withdrawn personality and his avoidance of all the other immortals in general. stone and mukhari’s interactions tend to be far more calm and non-trivial than mukhari’s interactions with anyone else, and mukhari trusts stone with his life. this trust is not quite reciprocated, but neither of them mind.
soothe was adopted and raised for a couple years by mukhari and satero and company, but was lost and forgotten about when catastrophe struck. she came back into their lives centuries later at odds with their own interests, but mukhari still retained a great deal of fondness and affection for her anyway. her death was one of the worst blows ever dealt to him. and, uh, to her too.
bariyan and catsovi likewise were friends with mukhari, then disappeared from his life, and then reappeared many years later. mukhari tends to run to them whenever he is in a bad situation and needs shelter and a place to stay and, occasionally, someone to protect him. mukhari and catsovi are a little bit awkward around each other as many years ago, mukhari had just stood by and watched as catsovi was blinded, but catsovi’s all but gotten over that now! on the other hand, mukhari and bariyan have always gotten along well even though bariyan treats mukhari like he’s sixteen years old with hormonal problems. mukhari thinks this is actually a pretty fair judgment.
